About

Skagit County FIELD is an educational program that provides a multidisciplinary study into sustainable agriculture. Modeled after Jefferson County FIELD program, farmers and the Skagit County WSU Small Farms coordinator work together to combine formal instruction with a field-based internship on a Skagit County farm.

Program Details
Each participant in the FIELD program is paired with a host farm mentor who provides the intern with comprehensive instruction in the operations of their farm. Farm-based learning is supplemented by weekly intensive workshop at participating farms.

FIELD interns, mentors, and Skagit County WSU staff collaborate to create individual learning plans that guide each student through their course of study. Interns may complete up to three FIELD semesters for academic credit or continuing education units (CEUs).
